Ko Au Te Taiao: recognising that we are nature through mātauranga Māori and the collections at Te Papa

Teaching and learning resource

Ko Au Te Taiao, is an exciting online learning resource designed to support deep and authentic engagement with mātauranga Māori in place-based ways.

This project was co-lead with Mero Rokx (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Awa) Kaupapa Māori lead at Te Papa Learning.

The collections at Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand across taonga Māori, the living world and toi Māori, are drawn on to ask big questions, such as “How do we live in harmony with te taiao?” “What are our connections to te taiao?” and “What does a better world look like?”

Meaningful inquiry pathways are created to engage with local environments and mātauranga Māori values robustly and authentically.
